  • What is the Intelligence Community Centers for Academic Excellence (IC-CAE) program?
    The Intelligence Community Centers for Academic Excellence (IC CAE) Program was established in 2005 to meet the nation’s demand for a more diverse and dynamic Intelligence Community(IC). The program provides grants to accredited U.S. four-year colleges and universities to support the design and development of intelligence-related curricula. 
  • Who can apply to FIU’s IC-CAE Intelligence Fellowship Program?
    Any undergraduate, graduate, or non-degree seeking student in any college at FIU or other colleges/universities with the following qualifications: 
    • Must be a US Citizen. 
    • Must be willing to commit to programming for three semesters: Summer B, Fall, Spring term. 
    • Must have completed 30 university credits by Summer B. 
    • Must be committed to a career in the United States Intelligence Community 
  • What majors are eligible for the Intelligence Fellowship?
    All academic majors are welcome. The IC seeks a diverse pool of competitive skillsets, perspectives, and experience to meet global challenges. Whether you have a background in STEM or arts and humanities, national security or any other field, your skillset is needed in the Intelligence Community.
  • What careers could I pursue in the Intelligence Community?
    Careers in the Intelligence Community include but are not limited to:

  • I’m an international student. Am I eligible for the Intelligence Fellowship?
    Applicants must be US.. citizens before they submit an application to the Intelligence Fellowship.
  • How long is the Intelligence Fellowship program?
    The Intelligence Fellowship is a one-year cohort based academic workforce development program that spans the length of three academic semesters. Every new cohort begins the program in the Summer B semester, continues into the Fall Term, and concludes in the Spring Semester.
  • Will I be required to take classes for the Intelligence Fellowship?
    The Intelligence Fellowship program requires that every student is enrolled in a total of six specialized online courses, two per academic semester. For more information regarding the program curriculum, please visit here!
  • How will the fellowship affect my other classes?
    The Program Coordinator works in tandem with your Academic Advisor to ensure that students enrolled in the Intelligence Fellowship courses are kept align with their respective degree requirements. Students are also recommended to inform their respective academic advisors of their intentions of enrolling in the Intelligence Fellowship Program in order to graduate on schedule.
  • Are current Juniors and Seniors eligible to apply for the Intelligence Fellowship Program?
    Yes, all students who have completed a minimum of 30 credits by the start of the program are eligible for admission.
  • Can non-FIU students join the Intelligence Fellowship?
    Yes, Non-Affiliated FIU Students may apply to the Intelligence Fellowship Program however, they must be willing to enroll in the FIU Intelligence Fellowship courses as an undergraduate certificate seeking student.
  • Will financial aid cover the added-value program fee?
    Federal financial aid and any other supplemental academic funding must be used to cover tuition and any associated university fees and costs. If surplus funding remains and a student is free to use it at their discretion, they can decide to use those funds to cover the cost of the added-value program fee.
  • When is the best time to apply?
    Program slots are limited, applicants are encouraged to apply as early possible due to this as candidates are evaluated on a first-come, first serve basis. Applicants applying prior to the priority deadline are guaranteed an Interview slot with the admissions team.
  • What topic should my writing sample be on?
    Applicants should submit a writing sample covering what they believe to be a contemporary, national security related topic that is of pressing concern to the United States.
