  • Grant Administrator II

    Provides assistance to and supports the Center's Assistant Director of Administration in all matters pertinent to the administration of grants for the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy. Works closely with Principal Investigators and the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED) to ensure compliance and monitors the associated budgets and expenditures of the grants for the period of award. Works closely with ORED Human Resource liaisons to manage daily administrative transactions related to HR.

    • Provides assistance to the Center's Assistant Director of Administration in all matters pertinent to Pre and Post award for the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy.
    • Maintains up-to-date information regarding the grants and reports information regularly to the Director, PI's and Department Heads as needed.
    • Assists Principal Investigators (Pl) in the development of external funding opportunities, preparation of grant budgets, budget modifications and transfers. Reviews sponsor guidelines to ensure proposals have strict adherence.
    • Reviews grant guidelines, assists Pls in gathering required documentation for proposal submission.
    • Serves as the University's credit card backup user for departmental transactions. Ensures compliance and adherence to University's credit card policies and procedures.
    • Prepares and maintains grant accounting spreadsheets and financial reports to monitor and track grant budgets and expenditures of grants.
    • Evaluates expenditure documents according to federal, state, and University guidelines for grant allowability and appropriateness.
    • Audits, adjusts, and reconciles subsidiary ledgers for grant accounts against monthly account ledgers to ensure accountability to prevent deficits in the grant.
    • Maintains accurate records of all documents related to the grant. Coordinates monthly reconciliation of grant accounts and ensures accuracy of charges. Ensures payroll charges are being posted to the correct project and accounting code.
    • Assists the Pls with all matters related to the operating budget of the grant as needed including but not limited to: validation of budget, Travel Authorizations (TAs), travel reimbursements, personnel, no cost extensions, grant account budget transfers, non-payroll and payroll transfers, tuition waivers, budget exception and effort certifications for each period.
    • Works closely with the PIs and the Office of Research Economic Development (ORED) to review all expenditures and ensures all project closeouts are processed accordingly.
    • Communicates with other Units to review all terminations, pending expenses and incumbrances before the completion of the project.
    • Monitors the grants for compliance with applicable regulations.
    • Works closely with ORED HR liaisons to manage daily administrative transactions related to HR. Ensures timely execution of all organizational HR actions required for new hires, rehires, staffing, terminations, payroll and change in status requests.
    • Manages the processing of requisitions and purchase orders related to all grants and contracts.
    • Ensures that consultants, suppliers and subrecipients have completed their purchasing documentation to become registered vendors to allow them to receive payment from the University.
    • Enters Independent Contractor agreements and Services agreements into Total Contract Manager (TCM) as needed to complete necessary grants and contracts deliverables.
    • Processes receipts and assures timely payment to registered vendors.

  • Executive Assistant

    Provides wide range of administrative level support to the Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) Dean's Office. Responsible for managing the schedule, correspondence, and activities of the Office. Performs duties with considerable independence of action and deals with materials that are highly sensitive and confidential in nature.

    • Provides high-level administrative support. Serves as the primary point of contact on any matter. Researches and prioritizes incoming issues and determines appropriate course of action, referral, and/or response.
    • Oversees the management of the calendars by analyzing appointment requests and determining the most efficient use of time arrangements of the calendar. Schedules appointments and accommodations for meetings, conferences and travel using discretion for time availability.
    • Schedules major development activities and coordinates their involvement in major University events.
    • Conducts research, compiles statistical reports, addresses information requests, and carries out clerical tasks including preparing correspondence, welcoming visitors, and coordinating conference calls.
    • Organizes and facilitates meetings, ensuring the provision of essential documentation and background information as needed. Assist in managing meetings and diligently edit and prepare supporting materials for a seamless experience.
    • Ensures compliance with personnel policies and procedures.
    • Exercises sound judgment in decision-making, including ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve internal and/or constituent issues.
    • Interprets administrative and fiscal rules and policies and recommends new and improved programs to effectively manage administrative and fiscal administration.
    • Collaborates with marketing and communications team on social media management and engagement to further the activities of the organization.

    • Develops and coordinates new research programming relating to international security challenges in the Western Hemisphere.

  • Senior Research Scientist

    The Jack D. Gordon Institute is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Scientist with expertise in political science, advanced statistical analysis, and survey development, including sample design, questionnaire development, and data analysis. The Sr. Research Scientist plays a leadership role in basic and applied research activities in topics including security, political science, and policy analysis. The Sr. Research Scientist May serve as Principal Investigator or co-Principal Investigator or work under the direction of a principal investigator or program director and with minimal supervision.

    • Designs and implements surveys, including developing sampling strategies and creating questionnaires.
    • Ensures the collection of high-quality data through careful planning and execution of survey methodologies.
    • Analyzes complex datasets using advanced statistical techniques.
    • Utilizes statistical software (SPSS, Stata, R) for data cleaning, analysis, and visualization.
    • Interprets and presents findings clearly and concisely, both in written reports and oral presentations.
    • Conducts original research on topics related to security, political science, and policy analysis.
    • Publishes findings in academic journals and presents research findings at the national and/or international level.

    The Jack D. Gordon Institute is looking for a Data Analyst II who is adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. Conducts big data analysis, creates geo-spatial oriented dashboards, applies text-mining and AI, and conducts geo-spatial data curation, selection, and identification for the SRH data portal.

    • Works with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
    • Collects and analyzes data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
    • Assesses the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
    • Develops custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.

  • Associate Director Research Administration - Public Policy

    Serves as Associate Director for Research Administration within the Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy. Oversees the day-to-day research operations and objectives of the Cybersecurity program to promote the overall success of the program and meet goals and objectives. Manages coordinates, and supports the Strategic Initiative programs within the Jack D. Gordon Institute.

    • Oversees the day-to-day research activities and operations of the Jack D. Gordon Institute's Cybersecurity policy programming to meet goals and objectives.
    • Plans, promotes, and manages Cybersecurity policy program activities and courses.
    • Manages program data, reporting, and provides support to the Director of Research Administration.
    • Works closely with the Director with the direction and management of research grants for the Cybersecurity program.

    • Contracts and supervises the services of university and external vendors, as needed, for each event, locally and internationally. Enters vendor agreements, as needed, and ensures timely execution for assigned events.
    • Processes invoices and ensures timely payment to registered event vendors.
    • Carries out event logistics leading up to, day of event, and post event execution including setup and breakdown.
    • Synchronizes with JGI Senior fellows to ensure maximum engagement with the institute.
    • Serves as the University's  credit card user for departmental transactions. Adheres to University's credit card policies and procedures.
