In this virtual 4-day professional certificate program, participants will engage with academics, industry leaders, and cybersecurity experts in assessing the most critical cyber threats facing the public and private sectors in the 21st century.
Participants will be exposed to the best practices about organizational structures, operative processes, and legal considerations in the prevention and management of cybersecurity. Participants will learn cybersecurity strategies and the most effective approaches to implementing them in the workplace.
Upon completion of the program, participants will earn a Certificate in Cybersecurity Leadership and Strategy from Florida International University.
The program is presented in English with simultaneous interpretation into Spanish, as needed.

Module 1: Emerging Threats

Dr. Alex Crowther
Visiting Professor, Jack D. Gordon Institute for Public Policy
Dr. Crowther was personally selected to be a Counterterrorism Advisor for the US Ambassador to Iraq, a Political Advisor for the MNC-I Commander and a Special Assistant for the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe. He is currently a Cyber Policy specialist in the Expert Consultant program at the Center for Technology and National Security Policy (CTNSP) at the National Defense University in Washington, DC. He is also an adjunct Senior Political Scientist at the RAND Corporation and an adjunct Research Professor of National Security Studies at the Strategic Studies Institute.

As part of the Digital Diplomacy team, she works both within Microsoft and externally on policy issues related to AI and IoT. Her focus is to advance security, trust, and innovation in a complex global policy and regulatory environment. She works at the intersection of cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and defense, and she regularly speaks before audiences of foreign policy leaders on novel policy and security issues. Rachel gives expert consultation to governments, international organizations, and publications such as The Economist on AI, IoT, and cybersecurity.
Matthew Doan
Cyber Strategist and Podcast Host
His main areas of research and thought leadership focus on the intersection of technology and human dynamics (i.e., psychological, cultural, and organizational factors). He advises senior clients and leads teams to drive innovative cybersecurity solutions for some of the world's leading commercial companies. His recent work focuses on helping critical infrastructure organizations understand and manage cyber risk across the entire business ecosystem in evolving domains such as connected products, manufacturing, and supply chain operations.

Kerry-Ann Barrett
Cybersecurity Policy Specialist, Organization of American States
Ms. Kerry-Ann Barrett is the Cybersecurity Policy Specialist at the Cyber Security Program at the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism (CICTE), Secretariat for Multidimensional Security at the Organization of American States. In her capacity, she offers technical assistance to member states on the development and implementation of their national cyber security strategies. She is also an attorney-at-law with over twelve (12) years of experience in both Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
