Internships

The Gordon Institute (JGI) and the Program in National Security Studies (PINSS) encourage students to seek internship opportunities to enhance the students’ background in pursuit of an eventual career. For anyone interested in a career within the Intelligence Community (IC) this is particularly important; work experience makes one more competitive in any field and gives the intern a better understanding of whether the agency is a good ‘fit’ for his/her own interests and skills. IC member agencies seek a diverse workforce – diverse in terms of ethnicity, gender, academic disciplines, language abilities and life experiences. Completion of an internship program provides real work experience and enhances the student’s career potential. Internships in the IC require security background checks – having successfully completed this important process also enhances the student’s resume.
