Dr. Betty Horwitz attended the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, graduating in 1979 with a BA in Social Sciences and a major in Sociology. She is a 2001 graduate of the Master of Arts and Liberal Arts (MALS) Program, and earned a Ph.D. in International Studies in 2007, both from the University of Miami. She is the author of The Transformation of the Organization of American States; A Multilateral Framework for Regional Governance (Anthem Press, 2010), and “The Role of the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD): Confronting the Problem of Illegal Drugs in the Americas” (Latin American Politics and Society, 2010). Her most recent publication is Betty Horwitz and Bruce M. Bagley, Latin America and the Caribbean in the Global Context: Why care about the Americas? (New York, N.Y.: Routledge, 2016).
