On February 3rd 2016 the Gordon Institute for Public Policy, in association with the Department of Social Sciences, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, hosted 130 students from 14 south Florida high schools as part of the Program in National Security Studies’ High School Outreach.

Students will participate in a simulation exercise with representatives from the private sector and intelligence community where students will be taught valuable tools of analysis to prepare them for future careers in the intelligence community. Ms. Sandra Quincoses from PATHAR will be demonstrating the latest in social media analytics and how they can be used to prevent attacks, anticipate civil disobedience, and anticipate future threats.
This event will bring together experts from both academia and the private sector to discuss two emerging issues facing the United States: the evolution of violent extremism, and the future of U.S.-Iran relations. The Gordon Institute will hold two panels. The first panel will examine the rise of violent extremism globally, while posting strategies for countering violent extremism. The second panel will provide an overview of U.S.-Iran Relations following the peace deal.
